In an exciting genre departure for me, my latest piece of theatre will be Gone in Sixty Seconds…!
My one-minute play, MEMORY SERVES, has been chosen to be performed next month as part of Gi60 Houston, the newest US addition to the world’s best-loved International One-Minute Theatre Festival.
Presented by Screaming Media Productions in association with Houston Community College's Media, Visual, and Performing Arts Center of Excellence, the festival is being held on the evenings of July 6th & 7th 2023 at the Fine Arts Center in HCC Southwest, Texas from 7.30 - 9:00pm. A selection of one-minute plays from around the world will be brought to the stage by the HCC Drama Program's Summer 2023 practicum students, directed by Elisa Diehl and Geoffrey Douglas. You can register for the event online now.
Gi60 was created in 2003 by Steve Ansell - artistic director of Screaming Media Productions, professional theatre director and the artistic director of stage@leeds at The University of Leeds. Following the success of the inaugural event, Steve approached his long-time colleague and fellow director Rose Burnett Bonczek, based at Brooklyn College, to explore hosting a One Minute Theatre Festival in New York under the Gi60 brand. Et voilà - Gi60 International was born!
Steve and Rose have even written the definitive book about the one-minute artform, published by Routledge and featuring 200 masterpieces of the craft, which you can order online: One Minute Plays: A Practical Guide to Tiny Theatre - 1st Edition - St (routledge.com).
