TRUE TO YOU will be taking the stage at Short+Sweet Hollywood in just a few short weeks, and it is with pleasure, pride and considerable excitement that I’d like to introduce you to the cast and crew of what promises to be a powerhouse production.

I am delighted to announce that TRUE TO YOU is being directed for S+S Hollywood by none other than Australian acting royalty Gia Carides (star of Baz Lurhmann’s Strictly Ballroom, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 1&2, Austin Powers 2, HBO’s Big Little Lies, David Lynch’s Twin Peaks 2 and many more). TRUE TO YOU at S+S Hollywood will mark Gia’s first complete production as a theatre director, and Gia has cast three phenomenal actors in the play - Sarah Burns, Bob Glouberman and Jillian Morgese (bios below). I simply cannot wait to see what this team does with my script. A huge thrill. Truly.

The Hollywood edition of Short+Sweet - the biggest little play festival in the world - is running at the Marilyn Monroe Theatre at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in West Hollywood from September 24th to October 28th. Returning for its fourth successive year in its LA incarnation, this month-long showcase of exceptional theatre, dance and film talent is being helmed by debut Festival Director Nick Hardcastle, and the full festival program features new and original work from emerging and established artists convened from across the globe.

The S+S Hollywood English Language Theatre program is divided into four strands represented by iconic stars of the silver screen, and team TRUE TO YOU will be performing as part of Cary Grant week (Saturday October 5th - Monday October 7th). Tickets are selling fast and available online. If you’re heading to Los Angeles for the season, book your seat now for a very special performance…

And now, without further ado, please meet Team TRUE TO YOU: Hollywood edition!

STRICTLY TALENTED: Director Gia Carides

STRICTLY TALENTED: Director Gia Carides

Gia Carides has been working as an actress since age 12 in film, TV and theatre. She has been nominated twice for her work, in Strictly Ballroom (1992, Best Actress in a Supporting Role AFI Awards) and Brilliant Lies (1996, Best Actress in a Leading Role AFI Awards). She has appeared in as many American films as Australian films, and continues to work in both countries. Gia is best known for her roles in Strictly Ballroom, Austin Powers 2, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 1 & 2, Big Little Lies and David Lynch’s 2017 revival of Twin Peaks. Gia has directed one short film and a staged reading of a play for ATC. This is her first complete production as a director.

Bob Glouberman’s acting credits span many of the best - and best-loved - television shows over the past twenty years, including The West Wing, Ally McBeal, ER, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Arrested Development.

Bob left his corporate law practice on September 15, 1995 realizing that "L.A. LAW" had lied to him about what it was like to be a lawyer. He began an acting career, much to the chagrin of his parents who had put him through four years at Stanford University and three years at UCLA Law School. Bob has appeared on over 75 television shows and in dozens of commercials and voice-over spots. Yet, none of this puts a dent in the guilt. In 1996, Bob met lovely psychotherapist Stefanie Klein and successfully duped her into marrying him three years later. On November 23, 2002, the couple was blessed with a daughter, Lexey Evan Glouberman. Bob is currently saving up for his daughter's much needed future therapy.
