It’s a pleasure to announce that my latest play, “Fair Cop”, will be making its debut at The UnDisposables’ new writing night Scratching The Surface on Friday 22nd March at Ye Olde Rose & Crown Theatre Pub in London.

This showcase performance will be in the very capable hands of director Adam Sabatti, and I’m proud to say will feature the superb acting talents of Adam, Jennifer Oliver, Matthew Martin and The UnDisposables’ Resident Playwright and Producer Hannah Whyman. “Fair Cop” is one of eight new pieces being presented, and the quality of past events has been exceptionally high, so I’m really looking forward to being surprised, entertained and inspired by the prodigious creativity being assembled in E17 for one night only.

Tickets for this popular new writing night typically sell out (and quickly), so reserve yours today via The UnDisposables website.

"IN OR OUT" DEBUTS AT DISPATCHES NEW WRITING NIGHT

I enjoyed a great evening at the OSO Arts Centre in Barnes on Thursday 6th December, where my short comedy “In or Out” made its debut at the Dispatches new writing night.

The popular new writing event, organised by Justin Treadwell, featured a wonderful selection of new plays, staged by a talented group of actors. It was a pleasure to watch the other writers’ work, and I was delighted with the run-through of “In or Out”, so thanks go to Justin and the team for a hugely enjoyable evening at a really rather special venue.

The night was reviewed by Georgia Renwick for Mark Aspen’s theatre blog here.

Hat-trick of plays shortlisted for Short+Sweet Theatre Sydney 2019

A trio of my short plays - “True To You”, “Unlimited Service” and “Socialite Networking” - has been shortlisted for Short+Sweet Theatre Sydney 2019.

The Sydney edition of Short+Sweet is the founding festival - and the largest internationally - and this year celebrates coming of age as it enters its landmark 18th season. The festival continues to grow in stature and reputation each year and, in January, Josh Lawson earned an Oscar nomination (Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film) for The Eleven O'Clock - 13 years after he wrote the original script for Short+Sweet Theatre Sydney.

The full programme for the Sydney festival will be announced in November.

It’s a unique venue and I’m excited to see what the team makes of my piece. I’m also really looking forward to watching the other six new works being staged on the night. I’ll post more details - including how to book tickets - shortly.

"Unlimited Service" at Brisbane Powerhouse

My short comedy "Unlimited Service" has just completed a four-night run at the stunning Brisbane Powerhouse, as part of the Short+Sweet Queensland festival in Brisbane.

Directed by the highly talented Caroline Sparrow of Sparrowland Productions and starring superb acting duo Sean Hutton and Darrell Plumridge, it was a huge pleasure to see this selected and performed at the Short+Sweet Queensland festival, which this year featured original ten-minute pieces spanning daring drama, laugh-out-loud comedy, charismatic cabaret and contemporary performance.

I also just adored the Saul Bass-inspired poster for the show, which was so cleverly designed by Alejandro Hongo.  Congratulations to the entire team on a magnificent production.  You saw them here first!

"In or Out" makes longlist for British Theatre Challenge

I'm pleased to announce that my newest short comedy, "In or Out", has been longlisted for the British Theatre Challenge 2018.

The annual competition, organised by London-based Sky Blue Theatre Company, attracts entries from all over the world, and this year's longlist represents the top 25% of entries.  At the end of the judging process in July, the five winning plays will not only be given a full performance at a London theatre, but also be considered for publication, filmed in performance by Mini Mammoth Films, and one lucky winner will see their play turned into a short film.    There are filmed performances from previous years' competition winners freely available online, and they're well worth a look.

The shortlist will be announced on 30th June.

Performance pictures: Snowdance® 10 Minute Comedy Festival 2018

After 5 weeks and 24 performances, the closing ceremony of the Snowdance® 10 Minute Comedy Festival was held on February 25th 2018.

What a run!

A record amount of scripts was received for this year's festival, so I am immensely proud to have been selected as one of ten lucky writers - and the only non-US finalist - to have my play performed to enthusiastic audiences in beautiful Racine on the shores of Lake Michigan.

The performance pictures of "True To You" are courtesy of Diane Carlson of Over Our Head Players and feature cast members Melissa Hughes Ernest, Ron Schulz and Mary Kveton.  The play was directed by Rich Smith, Artistic Managing Director of Over Our Head Players.

Emily from the OOHP team kindly sent me a fantastic memorabilia pack from the show (pictured below), which really captures the sheer amount of fun - and hard work - involved in this annual venture.  Its international reputation grows each year, and it's easy to see why.

Congratulations to all the writers and huge thanks to the audiences and entire Over Our Head Players team.  A wonderful festival and a wonderful experience!
